Fast moving targets are our market. What happened to all
those Gold watches for loyalty and durability in the
workplace? Tracking the industry's roving contacts can be
very serious business. Can we beat the "ants in the pants"
people?
Remember this: when someone's hit between the eyes, they
appreciate a kind word. In this business we must know how
to take the hits and care for wounds. Is dodging a hit a
common trait in this business? No, especially when it comes
to the buying versus selling, global fraternity.
The person who doesn't return emails or phone calls, the
goof who keeps re-scheduling or cancels appointments or
drops from your list 20 times, can make life miserable. Yet
some of these people would go to lunch with you in a snap!
Just make the call anyway. Make every single day positive.
You're required to make the rounds and duck from the hits
if you really want to be paid.
You do have the necessary industry knowledge, don't you?
Share all you know. It costs you nothing but guts to
demonstrate a bit of human compassion. The "circle" of life
is really much larger than small people think it is. Go
ahead; widen their world and small minds a bit. You can do
wonders for your own positive mental attitude once you get
your mnd-set on straight.
Taking hits gracefully is an excellent business practice
while you play sitting ducks. We have to get better at
moving targets. Our paycheck depends on it.
We can't count on sitting ducks who float in every
direction. Cut your own paths if you like to eat. You can
allow people to ruin your day or you can change your own
mind-set. Be courteous and compassionate but know how to
cut your losses and move on.
Take on your moving targets gracefully with confidence and
good common sense. There's a ton of people in the world just
waiting for your expertise. Find them. It isn't impossible
to find five sales a day in a world chock full of people.
Go looking. Seek and ye shall find may be the secret to your
success.
